Titles decided in youth roller hockey divisions

(Courtesy Photo) It was an all-out battle in the final game of the season for the JrStreetKings on Saturday at the Hernando Civic Center.


HERNANDO – The Junior StreetKings roller hockey league closed out its season with championship games in the Bantam and Squirt divisions Saturday.

The league had more than 50 children that played in the league that was held at the Junior StreetKings covered rink located at the Hernando Civic Center.

In the Squirt (ages 11 and under) finals, the Canucks defeated the Rink Rats in a tight 4-3 final score.


Ethan Wilkins and Clayton Hayes each scored two goals for the victors while Cooper Ellis starred for the Rink Rats by contributing a hat trick.

The Bantam (ages 12-16) championship game was a high scoring affair that saw the Bulldogs outscore the Wild 10-8.

Josh Martin scored seven goals while also adding an assist for the Bulldogs in the win.

The games on Saturday closed out a successful summer for the Junior StreetKings youth hockey program. The program conducted Spring League camps.

With the roller hockey season concluded, attention now turns to the ice hockey season.
